Dj Lethal / Leor Dimant / is one of the founders of House Of Pain and a member of Limp Bizkit. Knowing well Dj Lethal's solo career and his participation in the new "supergroup" La Coka Nostra, the answers we want to know are becoming more and more varied. On the occasion of his forthcoming set in Sofia on May 25 2007 we had the chance to learn a few things about his carreer, directly from him, in a interview for Stroeja.com.

Solo career, Limp Bizkit, and now La Coka Nostra – how do you manage with so many things? Which one has the biggest priority or they go in parallel?

DJ Lethal: I give 100% to everything I do. The main focus right now is building my record label (Lethal Dose), working on my solo album, and finalizing the La Coka Nostra record.

Are you working on any other projects with other artists?

DJ Lethal: I worked with Evanescence on their new album. I also co-wrote and co-produced a few tracks on Elliott Yamin’s debut album (American Idol ’06 finalist). Whitey Ford (Everlast) produced and co-wrote 4 tracks for a new band on Virgin called The Last Goodnight, and there are a few things in the works.

You are together with Everlast and Danny Boy for the La Coka Nostra project! Without depreciating the benefits of your other projects /on the contrary/, we guess and hope that thoughts of House Of Pain reunion have crossed your minds? Why don’t you do it?

DJ Lethal: La Coka Nostra is basically a reunion of House of Pain. We do “Jump Around” and a couple other House of Pain songs live.

Do you remember about the beginning – how was House Of Pain born? How did you meet Everlast and what happened then to become such a popular band?

DJ Lethal: That’s a long story. The short version is I met Everlast in 1987… and I went on tour with him for his solo record. When we came back I started making beats. Everlast and Danny Boy were friends and we all hung out and worked on music that later became House of Pain.

What was the reason to put an end to House Of Pain? From the position of “10-years later” – was the decision to break the band correct?

DJ Lethal: It was the right thing to do at that time… especially since I went on to sell 30 million records with Limp Bizkit, and Everlast went on to have a successful Grammy winning solo career. No one knew all of that would happen… but it was a good decision.

What did Dj Lethal, Everlast and Danny Boy do during the break between House Of Pain and La Coka Nostra? Did you keep in touch and did you try to realize other mutual projects during these almost 10 years.

DJ Lethal: We always kept in touch and that led to starting La Coka Nostra.

Who gathered you back in La Coka Nostra? Whose idea was it?

DJ Lethal: Danny Boy came up with the idea.

How did the La Coka Nostra line-up come together? How did you decide who will participate in the band?

DJ Lethal: When Everlast and Ill Bill joined it was obvious they would be the main MCs and I would continue doing what I do.

How does Coka Nostra look like on their concerts? Do you perform House Of Pain stuff, as a sort of their descendants? There is a similar analogue with Soulfly and Sepultura, for example, as well as other bands too.

DJ Lethal: All original members are on stage when we perform House of Pain songs live. La Coka Nostra ends up being a “supergroup” for the live shows – Ill Bill does his solo stuff, we do House of Pain, Slaine does his stuff. Everyone gets a chance to shine.

When is the La Coka Nostra album expected to be released officially?

DJ Lethal: We are aiming for a fall release.

What is happening with Limp Bizkit right now? Any fresh news around the band?

DJ Lethal: Working on music while Wes is touring and working with his new band. Maybe everything will be re-addressed once he finished touring on his record.

How did you become a Dj? What were the first steps of DJ Lethal?

DJ Lethal: My dad is a guitar player, and my bedroom growing up was his studio. I would always use his equipment and steal his records. That was what started it all.

What music do you like to listen? Please, name a few bands important for you? May be, as a producer you could recommend some new bands or music you have discovered for yourself and is worth listening to?

DJ Lethal: Currently, I am listening to La Coka Nostra, La Coka Nostra and La Coka Nostra (ha ha ha). I am a big fan of Tool, The Knife, Cut Copy, a new band called Tyler’s Riot (from Australia), Mstrkrft, Afrobots,

What are the single parties of Dj Lethal like? What can we expect form you set in Bulgaria – contents, duration?

DJ Lethal: I’m gonna play a lot of polka, country music, jazz, and Latvian hymms (ha ha ha). Get ready to dance your assess off out there!

Are you going to arrive alone in Bulgaria?

DJ Lethal: Maybe a security guard. The DJ booth gets pretty crazy…

We believe that the party in Sofia will be great. We hope the tradition will be preserved and Bulgarian public will you in future, as well. Is it possible to expect any time soon, concerts of La Coka Nostra or Limp Bizkit in Bulgaria? Does any of the two bands have plans for a tour in Europe?

DJ Lethal: Nothing planned, but we definitely want to come out and play for you guys. There is talk about La Coka Nostra coming to Europe in mid-August. You never know…
