Try abit of fatening in the mix... I do understand what you mean by thin and sharp...
remember that the right and left ears don't hear the same. Generaly the right ear hears
higher frequencies better and the left lower frequencies... so try copying your vocal
line into two seperate tracks in sync. Give a bit of sebiliance in the right
(slight boost in the 6K) and a bit of bass (100 to 250 Hz) boost on the left...
split them at -25 and +25 left and right (or less). If you want a fuller sound,
give them a 30 ms split between the two waves (or less). What you call ''thin and sharp'' is,
I think, clarity... therefore, partialy, sibiliance. By the way, often,
the muddy sound you get in a vocal recording is caused by over compression in recording
(your limiting the high's so the bases and mostly mids take over) record as close to ''nature'' as possible...
do the compression and the Eq'ing in the mix ...at output not input !
