FUNKDOOBIEST NEW ALBUM & SA / PSYCHO REALM MIXTAPE PREVIEW!
One of my favorites from the SA fam has always been Funkdoobiest, as I know many people out there have also expressed. People are always asking me, is Muggs gonna work with Son Doobie again? I don’t know, probably not. You gotta remember, that was like 15 years ago and it’s like saying “Is Pearl Jam gonna do another album soon?” However, Fundoobiest IS reportedly doing another album for 2008 with producer Ralph M. That reminds me, I fuckin hate Pearl Jam, but I do like Funkdoobiest! When the first album dropped, I had that shit glued in my tape deck (yeah a tape deck, it was 1993). I had a dope Pioneer, removable face tape deck too, with a Phoenix Gold amp bumpin 2 Rockford Fozgate subs (which I had in the backseat, cuz havin them in the trunk wasn’t loud enough!!). There was like 6 albums I had in regular rotation at that time… Cypress Hill “Black Sunday”, Funkdoobiest “Which Doobie U B”, House Of Pain 1, WU-Tang “36 Chambers”, Alkaholiks “21 & Over”, & The Odd Squad “Fadanuff Fa Erybody” (which was Devin The Dude and his homies when they were kids). That was my ‘93 in a nutshell. Needless to say, getting to see the Soul Assassins tour live with Tha Whooliganz, Fundoobiest, HOP, & Cypress was like my car stereo coming to life. On top of all that, the first time I heard Psycho Realm, was their first single, “Scanadalous” released on the soundtrack to the movie “Mi Vida Loca”. I bought the soundtrack because I saw it had Funkdoobiest on it, and back then you couldn’t just go on limewire and download everyone’s music, so to get a special track that wasn’t on the album was a big deal! I still have the tape and I’ve been a Funkdoobiest & Psycho Realm fan ever since.
On the upcoming Soul Assassin vs Psycho Realm mixtape, that I will be putting out here soon for FREE download, I did a mashup of Sick Symphonies over a Funkdoobiest beat, that I’m giving you an exclusive sneak preview of right here, as well as the new joint from Funkdoobiest called “Hip Hop Music” off their upcoming 2008 album, plus “Scandalous” from Psycho Realm off the Mi Vida Loca Soundtrack, and a couple tracks from The Odd Squad (one called I Can’t See It with like 20 emcees on it) & Wu-Tang that were part of my regular rotation and should be part of yours if you ain’t got em! It’s muthafuckin 1993 today!!
