We’ve received word that
Substantial has officially made it past the first round of voting for 2009’s
Grammy nominations. He’s currently in the running for a nomination in
3 separate categories:
1.
Best Rap/Sung Collaboration: Substantial – “My Favorite Things (f/ Steph)”
2.
Best Rap Song: Substantial – “It’s You (I Think)”
3.
Best Rap Duo or Group: Substantial ft. Extended Famm – “Sign Language”
There are only 2 rounds in the process – THAT’S how close QN5 is to receiving it’s first Grammy nod. Voting for the second round ends next week, at which point we’ll find out with the rest of the world if he gets the official Nomination. Either way, we’re blown away.
Keeping The Faith
We all know how this business works – and just like Hollywood plays ball during the Oscars – we’re positive that many labels are sending out private masseuses to Grammy members in order to coerce votes. All we can afford to do is make the most refreshingly honest music possible and hope that people connect to it. So far, so good.
For those of you who are STILL sleeping on Substantial, be sure to pick up Sacrifice at iTunes/Amazon/etc or peruse the various tracks on
Myspace.com/Substantial.
Thank you all for your support of the album thus far and let’s keep our collective fingers crossed for Substantial!
Enjoy!
