I’m instantly frustrated I can’t get Steam running, so I head over to Steam Support and find an article addressing my problem:

Steam gives me the error, “Steam requires that ~/Library/Application Support/Steam be created on a case insensitive filesystem.” or “Steam requires that ~/Library/Documents/Steam Content be created on a case insensitive filesystem.”

ANSWER

–Steam does not currently support case sensitive filesystems.
–If you wish to use Steam please make sure of the following:
Steam is installed on a case-insensitive partition or hard drive
Your User folder is installed on a case-insensitive partition or hard drive

Mac users looking to run Steam on their systems with case-sensitive partitions are out of luck. The only way you’ll be able to get Steam running on your system is to run Steam on an external hard drive. I hope Valve updates their Steam client sooner rather than later.
