Byata was born and raised in the Russian community of Coney Island, known as little Odessa; a place riddled with lots of different cultures. Many Russians migrate to this area also known as brighton beach in hopes of a better life. Her parents met in the United States and married at a very young age. Both shared a passion for music; her father being a drummer and mother trained to play classical piano. Unfortunately the marriage did not last much after Byata was born, but fate struck again with her mother remarrying a professional guitar player. As the sounds in her home varied from the Beatles to Marvin Gaye, her feel for harmony and percussions began to mold within her. Growing up, Byata struggled to do right by earning good grades, and trying to avoid the ‘woo’ of the streets that existed right outside her door. She couldn’t resist for long and found herself attracted to the lure of the street life. These same streets almost ate her alive when she turned to drugs and hanging out with the wrong crowd. She reached a turning point when her best friend died of an overdose. Byata felt a sense of urgency to clean up her act and start fresh. Writing poetry had always been a form of expression that came naturally to Byata. By the time she was 15 the writing had blossomed into more than a hobby, as she entered and won poetry competitions at the Nu Vorican Cafe Time Cafe, Club Pyramid to name a few. As Byata matured so did her art form. She began appreciating rap music and was inspired to create her own rhyming style, portraying the life she saw on a daily basis. Her ghetto glory stories were filled with joy and pain, trials and tribulations, and the struggle to make it in the rap game. She stumbled upon an opportunity in the Spike Lee movie, ‘He got game’, after Spike noticed her in the mix of a crowd. Her first glimmer of stardom reassured her that entertainment was the life for her. She later signed with S. Vision Entertainment, Inc. From there Byata has done many shows throughout NYC, Florida, D.C., and Virginia, and has had parts in a few independent flicks. She has also acquainted herself with people in the music industry such as Wyclef, Run dmc, Marly Marl, and many more. Byata was the first white female ever to be seen battling on ‘106 & Park’s Freestyle Friday’. Well equipped with a sharp mind and slick tongue, Byata continues to amaze listeners with her classy yet rugged style. Now at 23, she continues to broaden fan bases that only few female rap artists have been able to reach. Currently Byata is featured on the Mario "let me love you" remix along with Jadakiss and T.I. Byata creates an atmosphere that transcends color or sex, and destroys all boundaries of limitation. With the chips stacked in her favor this Russian chick from Brooklyn, New York knows what to expect next.
