there's mainstream and a subculture and they have to collide in order for both to exist and when they do, a deviations from both are observed. they will be there - whether you like it or not, unless you're zoroastrians or something of a sort... and Hip-Hop is just way too young to have a status that's even close to that... but the funny part is that while the borderline of mainstream is questionable and perhaps debatable, the subculture isnt really defined, what does exist is an idea of that SC spread over the minds of those trying to be part of it and as a result of that is in a constant state of flux, affected equally by those who THINK they have a better grasp on things in this particular culture and what's even more interesting is that i can keep on bullshiting like this for quite some time or perhaps even never stop, changing the topic gradualy to Fathers and Sons or Generation P or whatever else that springs to my mind at that particular moment - then you can only hope that it's not Borges or Marques or something like that... ok and here's where i cut the bullshit
