Every soulful corner of L.A. hip-hop is covered in The Funky Precedent, Loosegroove Records' debut foray into West Coast urban culture. The release features exclusive music from underground luminaries such as Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, Aceyalone and Mikah (Freestyle Fellowship). In addition to the collection's rhyme aspects, there's also contributions from prominent area turntablists DJ Rhettmatic (Beat Junkies), Cut Chemist and DJ A Kid Named Miles, and tracks from crossover acts such as the Breakestra, Damon Aaron and Ozomatli. Proceeds from The Funky Precedent will go to support music education at various elementary and secondary schools in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
