у меня пока двойственные ощущения - с одной строны все сделано по лучшей схеме - один мц один битмейкер- звучит все цельно, но по воздушноупрощенному сэмплированию Аполо у меня конечно вопросы возникают - repeat value пока непонятен поэтому.

Inspired by reggae, sound system culture and the myriad of musical styles influenced by Jamaican music old and new, The Lions’ sound is firmly placed in soul music.

"All the guys in The Lions grew up on classic Jamaican records so since we began we have wanted to give our records that same edge and roughness that we grew up hearing on LPs by The Upsetters, Soul Syndicate, The Rockers Band and Roots Radics. The rhythm section was all recorded to tape, the Hammond buzzed a little, fuses blew and good mistakes were left in. We basically made the dusty reggae soul LP WE have been wanting to hear for years." – Dan Ubick (producer)

The band draws together a dozen or so of LA’s elite reggae and soul forerunners who loosely coalesced as The Lions in 2007. Members of the legendary ska band Hepcat, Deston Berry and Alex Désert, form half of the vocal team, and the latter also has a successful career on screen, including roles in the films Swingers and High Fidelity. The other half is the sweet falsetto of Malik Moore and DJ stylings of Black Shakespeare, the charismatic cousin of Robbie Shakespeare (of Sly & Robbie fame) and co-runner of the i&i Sound System, a customized ice cream sound system van, featured on the album cover.

This Generation is being released on vinyl in the form of a 45 box set, which we hope to have early 2013. Details coming soon.

Послушал последний релиз Виновного. Все таки сильно меня раздражает тут закольцованность битов Аполло. На одном семпле/лупе строит все биточки, в итоге пятисекундный фрагмент повторяется из раза в раз всю песню. Сами фрагменты заебатые, но из-за этого вот повторения к концу трек уже всерьез надоедает.
Сам Гилти хорошо, но это и не обсуждается. В общем, релиз интересный, но ни Ода к гетто ни под каким ракурсом

DO YOU LIKE MADLIB BEATS?

Не знал куда написать, решил написать сюда.
Лазил тут по дискографии Exile прежде чем слушать Give me my flowers и наткнулся на проект Emanon. Поскольку двухлетней давности альбом Алоя мне вкатил не на шутку решил и этот Эманон послушать. Качнул эпиху Anon & On и охуел по самое не хочу. Вот это хип-хоп каким я его люблю. Охуенные семплы, классические биты, голос читаки не теряется в бите но и не забивает его. Текста не так чтобы сложные, но поданы здорово, такие классические "простые истины". В общем пол часа чистого и невъебенного кайфа для тех, пожалуй, кому по душе Примо и все породистое Нью-Йоркское музло девяностых. Мне чисто по ощущениям напомнил Лордов Подземелья этот релиз.

Oh No has remixed Strong Arm Steady's album Stereotype, and we kept it a secret until the day when the beat making, mixing and mastering were all complete and ready for release. That's today.

This is available for now exclusively at Stones Throw and via Stones Throw's digital subscription service - Stones Throw Digital Discography.

Stereotype was originally recorded late last year with Statik Selektah on the beats, 14 tracks total. Oh No's flip of the album is a shorter album than the original - seven vocal tracks with some worthwhile Oh No interludes, 30 mins runtime, and the price is nice.

Karriem's instrumental hip-hop album Alone Together for Stones Throw was just picked as one of NPR's top album of 2012 as well as Artforum. His video Summer Madness just came out a week ago, and we've got another one coming in the next week. Percee P is stepping back in the rap game with a brand new studio album, and the hot management team of Vigilant Promotions, that is now coming to claim his rightful heir to Hip Hop.

Percee P came up in the Patterson Housing Projects of the Bronx, NY. He started hearing the precursors to hip-hop out of his windows before he was in kindergarten, around 1973. So needless to say, Percee P always re-invents himself and Hip Hop Culture with every line he spits, and what is to come next will put the ‘Hop’.. back in Hip Hop!

Percee P is one of the most important rappers in Hip Hop, his style has been cited as a major influence on the likes of Pharoahe Monch and basically all of DITC (via Lord Finesse, who he battled in '89). He's cut records with everyone from Kane & Kool Keith to Aesop Rock & Jurassic 5 and outshined just about all of them. That's his voice on DJ Shadow's 'Napalm Brain, Scatter Brain'. In short, he is one of the top 2 pioneering and illest fast paced rappers to ever touch the mic. Period.

Stones Throw to distribute record label Duppy Gun's outer orbit dancehall selections.

Duppy Gun Productions is a label founded in Portmore, Jamaica, 2011, by Los Angeles musicians Sun Araw (Cameron Stallones) and M. Geddes Gengras. Stallones & Gengras ventured to the island to record an album with roots-reggae chaplains The Congos, and soon began collaborating with the local music community centered around the fishing village of Forum. Duppy Gun came to fruition with the release of a 12-inch MULTIPLY featuring vocals by Dayone (Carlton Sappleton) and Early One (Alan Pitt) over bugged riddims by the Duppy Founders.

Speaking on future plans, Stallones states: "Currently the DUPPY GUN will bring a steady stream of OUTER ORBIT DANCEHALL SELECTIONS on 12-inch to the public by curating an alchemical bond of warped rid dims from worldwide sources and vocal fire from THE ISLAND."

Stones Throw Records will be distributing the Duppy Gun series around the globe, beginning with the 12-inch release SPY featuring vocals by I Jahbar and Lukani, coming Feb. 2013. These and all future Duppy Gun releases will contain vocal and instrumental versions, white-sleeve 12-inch vinyl with an oversized poster included.
