Arguably, 2007 rookie Jay Electronica was the most talked about new emcee last year. With his highly praised talent from the industry's elite, compounded with his odd-ball personality and elusiveness, at times Jay seems more like a myth or urban legend than an actual rapper. But after getting some much deserved media press, including the URB Magazine #152 cover which he shared with Erykah Badu (who signed Jay to her Control Freaq label) we are slowly coming to learn more about one of the most esteemed new comers to the game, and just how powerful his supporters are.
URB caught up with rap legend Nas last week and he was reportedly "smitten" once presented with the Jay Electronica issue. He also confirmed that Jay will appear on his upcoming album Nigger, as producer and emcee:

URB: What makes Jay so special?
Nas: "He does him man. I thought that when you get into something you get into it because you want to represent and do it to the fullest, regardless if you getting the credit or not. I hear people that think they not getting the respect they think they deserve, complaining to people because they not on top. Or blamin' record companies or blamin' other rappers they record with. And you know that happens all the time but it's rare that you see someone that's not asking for a handout, that's not looking for a lookout. Someone who came into the business like how I came. I didn't come in with a platinum, multi-platinum act in the middle of the rap world when it was on top. I had a verse in '91 with a fairly underground rap group. And it created my buzz and I had to climb on my own. I would not have accepted me coming into the business any other way. You know? And today people get superstars to endorse them and it got a lot easier and they still complainin'. Somebody like Jay Electronica got their awareness of the same shit, superstars. He's onto his own thing and that is everything to him. It doesn't matter if people pay attention today. It doesn't matter when they get it, but they going to get it."

URB: And musically?
"He got that shit where, you know, shit just sound like music. And you can hear what he's saying and when he gets into it he goes all the way into it. He knows there's an audience out there that can hear what he's saying and that's what he's been with me in the studio, like fuck that, they going to know what you mean, they going to know what you saying."

NEW NAS JOINT!

This isn’t so much of a rumor as it is fact. Since, its not out there, I guess I will pass it along. Nas has a new song on the way called "War is Necessary" and it will appear in Grand Theft Auto IV. The song was produced by Wyldfyer and it might be on the N-Word album, whenever that drops. I hear that decision is up to Nas and Def Jam. This is the kicker. Подогревание интереса к альбому просто образцовое. Но от Насира этого можно было ждать. Знаете, проведя с ним некоторое время (я об этом тут писал), от него ощущается некоторая "умственная статусность" (назову ее так). Он действительно вжился в роль уличного проповедника и наслаждается этим, пусть и пребывая в некотором физическом отрыве от социума.

P.S. Heartless, а ты не помнишь - у него с Dre были какие-то контры? Почему он не подтягивает его на биты, ведь Nas Is Coming это вынос тела?

Контров у него никаких не было, Дре выращивает Детох.

Во-первых, да, Дре сейчас занят другими делами. Это удивительно, но от него же на самом деле ни одного осмысленного нового бита не выходило уже много лет, ничего такого запоминающегося.

Контр не было, но вообще-то The Firm полное говно (по битам), да и Nas Is Coming тоже то еще произведение (худший, наверное, трек на IWW). Поэтому не вижу необходимости в привлечении доктора - на мой взгляд, есть такие пары "артист-битмейкер", в которых вообще нет никакой chemistry. Вот они такие и есть :)

Лучше бы он Примо подзарядил уж тогда. Но он этого не сделает, потому что "Nas got rich & ain’t reach back" (AZ).

Nas Is Coming - действительно гавно, а вот The Firm... Firm Fiasco пиздатый бит, а Phone Tap - лучшее "фирменное" произведение, вообще классика. Плюс там еще такие пиздатые темы как Desperados и Executive Decisions (от Трэкмастерзов)... не, не полное гавно, хотя в общем - гавно:)

весь их официальный совместный каталог исчерпывается Фирмой (и то с ко-продакшном), Nas Is Coming и ебучей Hustlers. Ну и Everyday Thing, бленд, но всем блендам бленд:horosho:. хз, отсутствие chemistry:confused: слишком мало материала

кстати, насчет "кемистри".. у Наса с Примо 6(!) работ всего, причем одна из них говенная, а половина была сделана 14(!) лет назад. хотелось бы услышать их совместку, но действительно ли она будет охуенной...

да я как бы могу и Плова послушать, взбодриться под некий больший ширпотреб, нежели крутой Азия. и под Лил Джона могу. я как бы шире беру. но ты в сторону Азии как то не в тему сиранул. че то я не помню, чтоб он был "мрачный" и "ужасный".

после Formata был ахуеннейшей красоты и звучания трек Classic с вполне всем известными персонажами, KRS-One, Rakim, Kanye West и все тот же Nas.....

Так что кормега с тобой не соглашусь, местами можно признать , что премьерчик слегка скучноват, но это в 1-2 % из всего материала, чт оо нсделал......лично для меня.....

Думаю, если бы Прим взялся за трек для Насира, то была бы бомба, потому что Прим сказал, что хотел бы работать с Насом, и Нас его любимый Мс, но сам Насир не звонит.

Но вроде бы ничего такого плохо не наблюдалось, поэтому ждём что нить вкусное.

Самый свежий трек от Nas'a слушал недавно , это ремикс на трек Gangsta rap Made me Me Do It вместе со Scarface & Ice Cube трек неплох....

Нас охуенно рифмует и делает свои вещи в поряде, хоть мой любимый "It Was Written" в прошлом, парень держит уровень и на каждом альбоме по 4-5 шедевров выдаёт... а если бы он был в дуэте с AZ я вообще был бы счастлив.


Жду альбом и жду уровень близкий к классике... НАС если постарается - сделает!

Многое зависит от битов на альбоме. Касаемо лирики и читки, уверен, за Насом не заржавеет.
